(I usually make music videos for my own songs, but this is my first time directing a music video, hiring two actors and a videographer.)

I composed "Hazel in Black" about 15 years ago, thinking about what a so-called minority would see when they look at the huge city, Tokyo.

I recorded it mainly with acoustic instruments around the end of 2021, when the idea of diversity was slowly beginning to permeate Tokyo.

At the same time, I decided to make a music video.

The male role was played by KILA, a gay transgender male.
He was born as a woman and now lives as a man.

The female role was played by Gina, a Mexican actress and YouTuber living in Japan who belongs to ASOBYSISTEM/ASOBINEXT, known for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Yasutaka Nakata.

The shooting was done by Taiyo FILMs.

In the music video, KILA looks like a man, and he and Gina, a Mexican woman, look like a couple.

However, KILA was born a woman and now lives as a man.

There is a scene where she takes off his jacket, revealing a woman's necklace. (He doesn't usually wear women's clothing or accessories, but he wore it for the role.)

This scene was created to show the audience that the person they thought was a man on the screen might be a woman.

I hope to show that things might not be how they seem at first.

In recent years, everyone has the potential to become a minority and capitalism decides whether we win in order to live. Especially in Japan, there have been many serious suicides.

俗に言うマイノリティーが巨大な東京を見たときに何が見えるのかを考えて、15年ほど前に「ヘーゼル・イン・ブラック」を作曲しました。

多様性という考え方が東京にも少しずつ、浸透し始じめた2021年の終わりごろ、アコースティック楽器をメインに録音して同時にMVを制作してみようと思いました。

男性役を演じてくださったのは、トランスジェンダー男性でゲイであるKILAさん。

MVで、KILAさんは男性に見え、女性のメキシコ人のGinaさんとカップルのように見えます。

しかし、KILAさんは生まれたときは女性で、現在は男性として生きているのです。

ライダースジャケットを脱いで女性用のネックレスが露わになるシーンがあります。

画面の中で男性と思っていた存在が、もしかして女性であるかと伝える為にそのシーンをつくりました。

普通だと思っていたことが普通でないかもしれないというような疑似体験になればと思いました。

誰もがマイノリティになる可能性があるということ、生きるためには勝たねばならないという論理が強くなった昨今、特に日本において深刻な数の自殺者が多く出ています。

MVの中で女性が2回、死んでしまうように見えるシーンがありますが、判断は視聴者さまに委ねるような作りにしました。

配信開始日は少々の皮肉を込めて性別の関係するイベントであるバレンタインデーにしました。

（日本では男性が女性にチョコレートを贈りますが、例えばイギリスでは逆とのことでした。）
